Marjo Matikainen of Finland clinched the women’s World Cup cross-country ski title for the second consecutive year with a victory in a 10-kilometer race at Kavgolovo in the Soviet Union.

The 22-year-old Finn covered the course near Leningrad in 28 minutes 54.5 seconds, and has 127 points to 97 for Anfisa Reztsova of the Soviet Union with one race left.

Reztsova finished second in 29:00.2, ahead of Sweden’s Mari-Helen Westin, whose time was 29:00.7.
