Four 17th-Century tapestries valued at $240,000 which had been stolen from San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral were returned by an art dealer, police said. The tapestries had been ripped off the walls of the church atop Nob Hill on Thursday night and were sold to an unidentified San Francisco art dealer Friday for $300, investigators said. The unidentified San Francisco art dealer called police after hearing news of the theft. Police later arrested Donald C. Cherry, 29, who also is wanted on a Houston burglary charge.
