Superior Court Judge Norman L. Epstein ruled that certain profits from 19 Jordache designs must be placed into a trust because those styles appear to have been copied from Guess designs. In making the ruling, Epstein said Jordache’s worsening balance sheet indicated a “serious threat of dissipation” of the funds. Guess and Jordache, which owns 50% of Los Angeles-based Guess, have waged a bitter, three-year court battle over a variety of issues, including copyright infringement and withholding of dividends.
