The Nation : Curbs on Drunk Driving

Share

A voluntary “designated driver” program that could significantly reduce drunken driving has overwhelming public support. In addition, a large majority of Americans say they occasionally would abstain from drinking at social affairs in order to drive their companions home safely. In a just-completed Gallup Poll, 91% of those who attend social functions where alcoholic beverages are served say they would like their friends and acquaintances to adopt the designated driver plan, while 6% would not and 3% are undecided.
