South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu met in Lusaka, Zambia, with Oliver Tambo and other leaders of the African National Congress. The talks were the first official meeting between Tutu and the outlawed ANC, a key black nationalist guerrilla group fighting to end white minority rule in South Africa. ANC sources said another meeting would take place today, before Tutu flies home to Cape Town. On his arrival in Lusaka, Tutu said the talks were taking place by mutual request and said they would cover the general situation in South Africa.
