Daylight-Saving Time Starts Sunday in Europe
Europe, from London to Moscow, goes on summertime Sunday, stealing an hour of sleep from everyone but adding an extra hour of daylight.
Under a 1984 European Economic Community directive, EEC members change their clocks at the same hour, a decision binding through 1988.
The Soviet Union and Eastern European nations also will move their clocks ahead one hour Sunday, as will Austria and Scandinavia.
The United States goes on summertime, or daylight-saving time, April 5.
Europe returns to standard time at the end of September. The United States returns to standard time the last Sunday in October.
