Alan J. Brody has been named chairman of the Commodity Exchange Inc. in New York for an unspecified term.

Brody, 34, who is also CEO, had been president since 1981. That post has been discontinued. The chairman's job is a full-time salaried post. Previously, Comex members elected a chairman from their ranks to serve a one-year term.
