Appointment of Supervisor

Your editorial welcoming the governor’s appointment of Gaddi H. Vasquez to the 3rd District Board of Supervisor’s seat was appropriate and timely.

The governor had several very qualified people to choose among and, naturally, each had their own supporters. Given the choices, it would have been irresponsible to leave the seat open any longer than necessary.

Though a young man, Vasquez is wise for his years and all who know him recognize his natural leadership abilities. Vasquez trained under two proven problem-solvers, Bruce Nestande and George Deukmejian, and brings their type of moderate, people-oriented decision making to a seat that desperately needs it.

We in the 3rd District are fortunate to have a governor like Deukmejian who provides us a supervisor like Vasquez.
