Future Is Bright, But Last Rainfall Topped Prediction

There is no rain in sight for San Diego’s immediate future, but the immediate past is a different story.

Three times the amount of rain than was originally forecast fell at Lindbergh Field Thursday and Friday, National Weather Service forecaster Harvey Hastrup said.

Total storm rainfall at the airport was .78 of an inch of rain, but different parts of the county received significantly less than that.

“It was a complete matter of chance with this storm as to how much fell because different thunderstorm cells brought significant amounts of rain in short periods of time to certain areas,” Hastrup said.

The next few days will be clearer and warmer as high pressure slowly moves into the area, he said. However, the return of an onshore flow will mean some night and morning coastal low clouds and fog.

Highs will be in the middle 60s along the coast today and in the upper 60s Monday. Inland highs will nudge up to the low 70s today and the middle to upper 70s Monday. Overnight lows will be near 50 along the coast and in the low 40s inland.
