Orange : Officers Will Get Less Bang Out of Their Buck

Share

The cost of target practice at the sheriff’s shooting range in Orange went up Tuesday, with the county Board of Supervisors approving an increase in the daily entry fee from $3 to $4 and raising the cost per bullet from 8 cents to a dime.

The Katella Avenue range reopened in February after being closed for two years. The range was closed because errant bullets were escaping from the facility and landing on the street outside. Sheriff’s Department officials said improvements in the range have solved the problem of the wandering projectiles.

The annual fee for the general public was increased from $60 to $80, and the yearly cost to police personnel who contract with the range for weapons training was hiked from $36 to $48.
