AID Official Chosen to Fill Treasury Job
M. Peter McPherson, the administrator of the Agency for International Development, will be nominated by President Reagan to be deputy secretary of the Treasury, it was announced Tuesday.
McPherson, 46, would succeed Richard G. Darman, who announced last week that he is leaving the Treasury post on Monday to become managing director of the investment banking group at Shearson Lehman Bros.
McPherson has headed the development agency, which administers U.S. foreign aid programs, since 1981. His nomination is subject to confirmation by the Senate.
