Los Angeles County

The Crest Restaurant and Bar, 1625 Cabrillo Ave., Torrance.

Considered a focal point of dart playing in the Southland. Many of the best play here. Twelve boards, spacious and lots of league play, but the atmosphere is not boisterous--most patrons are playing or watching, respectfully.

Ye Olde King’s Head Pub, 116 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica.

A hangout for local expatriate Britishers, featuring British food and beers. Only two boards, but play is constant in the evenings, and of high quality. A loud, pub-like atmosphere that doesn’t seem to bother the players.

A cavernous place, with 14 dart boards and even more pool tables. Boisterous and barnlike, serving cocktails and light food.

A new place, open since last November. Five boards in an English pub atmosphere accented by many antiques. On the menu deep fried vegetables are a specialty.

The Robin Hood Tavern, 13640 Burbank Blvd., Van Nuys.

Features three boards and a huge variety of imported beers on tap. Fish and chips is a specialty.

Very Irish. Five boards and a cocktail bar. No food is served, but the pub features live Irish bands and dancing on weekends.

Considered family-oriented, with six boards, pizza and submarine sandwiches.

Stat’s Sports Bar and Grill, 11168 Washington Blvd., Culver City.

Sports events play continuously on six television screens. Two boards, full bar and hot sandwiches. Located across the street from the headquarters of the Southern California Darts Association, which is also a dart shop. Orange County

The Rose and Crown British Pub and Restaurant, 831 S. State College Blvd., Anaheim.

Bright, congenial, British in tone, mostly American in clientele. The three-board playing area is adjacent to the restaurant area and is well-appointed, with full carpeting and bright lights on the boards.

Spare surroundings, but often hosts league play and frequent games just for fun. Eight boards, light food and a large selection of beers.

The Balboa Saloon, 700 E. Bay Ave., Balboa.

A neighborhood watering hole next to the Balboa Fun Zone serving beer and hot sandwiches. English soccer pennants adorn the walls along with fishing photos and the names of dart players of the past who have thrown a ton-80 there. Three boards.
