In the wake of the accidental killing of a man carrying a space-age toy gun, a national coalition called for a boycott of all war toys. “It’s sad that it has to take such a violent tragedy, but it could very possibly happen again if people don’t wake up,” anti-war activist Jerry Rubin said during a candle-lighting memorial held by the Los Angeles chapter of the National Stop War Toys campaign. The memorial was for Leonard Falcon, 19, of Rancho Cucamonga, who was killed when a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy mistook a Lazer Tag gun Falcon was carrying for a loaded pistol. Worlds of Wonder Inc., the Fremont, Calif., manufacturer of Lazer Tag, said it was the first time there had been a problem with Lazer Tag since its introduction in August, 1986.
