The Nation : 5 Atomic Workers Banned
Five contract workers at the Turkey Point nuclear power plant south of Miami tested positive for drugs and were banned from working at the facility, a utility spokesman said. The workers were pipe fitters and welders for Bechtel Corp., a major contractor at the Florida Power & Light Co. plant. They were hired to maintain and replace metal pipes at a turbine. A total of 16 Bechtel workers at the plant were asked to take urinalysis tests last week, authorities said.
