Micropolis’ Earnings Soar 66% in Quarter

Thanks to a rebound in the disk drive business, Micropolis reported 66% higher first-quarter earnings on 22% higher sales, the firm said.

Micropolis earned $6.2 million on sales of $61.8 million, up from earnings of $3.75 million on sales of $50.7 million a year ago. Earnings per share were 55 cents against 40 cents, while shares outstanding rose by 1.9 million, to 11.3 million.

Based in Chatsworth, Micropolis makes disk drive memory systems for powerful small computers.
