The U.S. Interior Department’s top West Coast lawyer was reported under investigation by the department’s inspector general because of allegations that he represented the government in legal negotiations with the Fresno-based Westlands Water District while he was discussing a possible job with that district’s law firm. The Washington Post said an Interior Department spokesman confirmed that regional solicitor David Lindgren was under investigation but that he declined to discuss specifics.
