A senior North Korean sports official has said Pyongyang will agree to have both opening and closing ceremonies of next year’s Olympic Games held at Seoul but has asked to host more events in the North. The International Olympic Committee, which has tried to avert a Pyongyang-led boycott of the Seoul Olympics, has said North Korea could host table tennis and archery and part of the soccer and cycling events.

North Korea has demanded that it should be given six of the following seven: wrestling, gymnastics, judo, volleyball, handball, basketball and the entire soccer event in addition to table tennis and archery.
