Two former associates of Elvis Presley this week condemned Lucy de Barbin’s coming Elvis tell-all tome “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” as having “no basis in fact.” Barbin alleges that she and the King had a long-term affair that produced a daughter. Presley’s one-time personal aide Jerry Schilling said Elvis “would have had to have been Houdini to have had a relationship like that without my knowing about it.” Presley pal George Klein, a Memphis deejay, said: “Elvis never mentioned the woman to me in the 27 years I knew him.” Fact or fiction, the book--out in June--has been optioned by NBC for a possible miniseries.
