Diceon Electronics Inc., the Irvine-based designer and manufacturer of multilayer circuit boards, posted record-high fiscal 1987 second-quarter earnings of $2.1 million, up 23.5% from $1.7 million a year ago. Sales for the period ended March 29 were $20.7 million, a 22.9 % increase from $16.8 million from the same period last year.

For the first half of its fiscal year, Diceon--which signed a tentative agreement Monday to acquire Symtron Corp., an electronic component maker in Mountain View, for about $11.7 million--posted net income of $3.7 million, up 15.6% from $3.2 million a year earlier. Sales for the first half were $38 million, a 22.6% increase from $31 million.

A company spokesman said Diceon’s income and sales reflected improving financial conditions in the computer industry, which has been in a slump for almost two years.
