Santa Fe Springs : Landfill Given Warning

Share

The California Waste Management Board has issued a warning to Charles Pratty, owner of the Norwalk Disposal Site, for repeated violations of state minimum landfill standards.

The warning, issued the week of March 23 in Sacramento, gives Pratty 30 days to establish a schedule for achieving compliance at the site at 13774 E. Imperial Highway, Santa Fe Springs. The site has not received solid waste since 1982.

The board’s action was based on three on-site inspections by its staff between November, 1985, and February, 1987. The site was found to be in repeated violation of standards requiring grading of fill surfaces and recording the site’s use in legal records.

If a compliance schedule is not established or met, the landfill will be placed on the state’s list of “non-complying facilities,” after which the site would be presumed to be the cause of any property damage or personal injury that occurs within its boundaries.
