A Trans World Airlines jetliner carrying 69 people from Colorado to St. Louis made an emergency landing in Wichita, Kan., after a malfunctioning air conditioner spewed smoke into the cockpit and cabin, officials said. With fire trucks standing by, the DC-9 landed at Mid-Continent Airport without incident, said an airport spokesman. The plane taxied to a gate and passengers disembarked normally and no one aboard the plane required medical attention, officials said.
