Micom Systems Profits Soar 169% in 4th Quarter

Micom Systems, citing increased sales and improved margins caused by lower expenses, said its fourth-quarter earnings increased 169% for the period ended March 31, compared to the same period a year earlier, to $4.3 million, or 24 cents a share.

For the full year, the Simi Valley maker of computer communications equipment, which has been consolidating and cutting costs over the past two years, said earnings rose 13% to $10.8 million, or 62 cents a share.

Sales increased 11% in the quarter from a year earlier to a record $52 million. For the full year, Micom said sales increased 4% from a year earlier to $196.7 million. In particular, the company said catalogue sales of its products were strong.
