Dr. Ronald Kornblum was named Los Angeles County coroner by the board of supervisors. Kornblum, acting coroner since 1982 when Dr. Thomas Noguchi was demoted from the position, will receive a salary of $97,704. The board acted to fill the position following the state Supreme Court’s decision March 11 denying Noguchi’s legal challenge of the demotion. Noguchi, now a pathologist at County USC Medical Center, was demoted after the board charged that he had used his office for personal projects.
