J. Bixby Smith Elected Mayor of La Canada
J. Bixby Smith has been elected mayor of La Canada Flintridge by the City Council. He was chosen during the council’s meeting Monday, and replaces Councilman O. Warren Hillgren for the largely honorary, one-year term.
Smith, 60, is a retired Lockheed executive. He has been on the City Council since 1983 and was elected mayor pro tem last year. Smith was a member of the city’s Public Works Commission from 1976 to 1983.
Councilman John W. Hastings replaces Smith as mayor pro tem. Hastings, 58, is a builder and contractor who has been on the City Council since 1985.
