‘Scholar-Soldier’ Taylor Is Buried at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Va. —
Gen. Maxwell D. Taylor was buried with full military honors Thursday after being eulogized as “a scholar-soldier” whose standards were the highest.
“He carried on, flags flying, to the end,” said a son, Thomas H. Taylor.
Taylor, a much-decorated hero of World War II and the Korean War and ambassador to Vietnam as the American troop buildup began there, died Sunday at age 85. He had suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
