Texaco was denied a rehearing by a Texas court.

The Court of Appeals for the First Supreme Judicial District of Texas gave no explanation for denying Texaco’s March 23 request that the court reconsider its decision to leave intact a lower court judgment against Texaco in that company’s record $10.3-billion battle with Pennzoil. Texaco, saying the action “represents more of the same failure by the Texas lower courts to come to grips with the legal issues involved in this case,” said it would immediately appeal to the Texas Supreme Court. Texaco had argued that a rehearing was in order because it had new evidence of bias against Texaco by the trial judge.
