Hospital Promotes Medic Alert Plan in Whittier Area
Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital has begun a promotion of the Medic Alert emergency medical identification system.
The Medic Alert system consists of an emblem worn as a bracelet or necklace, engraved with medical information and a 24-hour call-collect telephone number from which medical personnel can receive additional medical information about the member. Members also receive a wallet card with personal and medical information.
Medic Alert is designed to protect the wearer of the emblem in the event of a medical emergency in which the member is unable to speak. It alerts medical personnel of a critical “hidden” condition, such as diabetes or an allergy, that should be known immediately. Lifetime membership costs $20. Further information may be obtained by calling (213) 698-0811, Ext. 2506.
