The National Basketball Assn. fined Karl Malone of the Utah Jazz $1,000 and Greg Ballard of the Golden State Warriors $500 as a result of their altercation at the conclusion of Saturday night’s playoff game.
With Utah leading, 103-100, Ballard fumbled a pass and Malone recovered the ball and then dribbled toward the Jazz basket when Ballard fouled him at the buzzer.
Malone, a forward, then threw the ball at Ballard and the Golden State forward fired it back at Malone. Then both teams, and some fans, poured onto the court.
