Escondido
An Escondido plating company was fined $11,000 Monday for unlawfully disposing of cyanide and illegally storing plating waste.
County Health Services Department officials have given Palomar Plating Co. Inc. one year to clean up its site or face a felony violation.
Inspectors found chunks of cyanide on the ground near storage barrels that were outside the company’s work area, said Dan Avaera, chief of the county’s Hazardous Materials Program.
