Radical Pleads Guilty in ’70 Case
A former anti-war activist accused of attempting to bomb an ROTC building at the University of Washington in 1970 pleaded guilty today to a federal charge of possessing an unregistered destructive device.
U.S. District Judge Walter McGovern accepted the plea from Terry Jackson, who recently legally changed his name from Silas Trim Bissell. The Vietnam-era Weatherman radical eluded authorities for 17 years before his capture Jan. 20 in Eugene, Ore. McGovern set sentencing for June 19. The maximum sentence Jackson faces is 10 years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
