Train Wreck Engineer Fined as Drunk Driver

TOWSON, Md. —
One of the engineers in a train wreck that killed 16 people pleaded guilty Friday to driving an automobile while under the influence of alcohol and running a red light and a stop sign.
Baltimore County Circuit Judge Joseph Murphy fined Ricky Gates $1,000. A two-month jail sentence was suspended in favor of two years’ supervised probation during which Gates, 32, must participate in an alcohol or drug counseling program.
