Turbulent spring weather spread thunderstorms, rain and hail across the Great Plains, spawning a tornado that overturned mobile homes and downed power lines in Kansas and unleashing 60-m.p.h. winds that damaged a barn in Texas. The tornado cut a swath of damage eight blocks long and a block wide through the town of Satanta, but no injuries were reported in the twister, which lasted about five minutes, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. Residents said the whitish-looking twister roared from the sky shortly before 4 p.m., damaging homes and other buildings. “Trees were uprooted, trailers were overturned, power lines were downed,” a Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
