The Depression-era look for the set of “Ironweed,” starring Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep and currently filming in Albany, N.Y., was perfect Monday--too perfect, as the film crew had removed all street signs and traffic lights. Thus, when Albany Police Sgt. Robert Wolfgang’s car entered the intersection while film was rolling, it collided with the car of one Tyrone Eddy. Eddy’s car smacked into the side of Wolfgang’s car and then caromed into the front of two houses. Eddy complained of minor injuries but refused medical attention. Wolfgang was not injured. No tickets were issued, Albany police said. Meanwhile, film continued to roll--though the incident no doubt spoiled the period look.
