The lawyer for Teamsters Union President Jackie Presser told a federal judge that prosecutors are withholding key evidence that may help in the defense of racketeering charges. U.S. District Judge George White ordered the government on March 19 to turn over thousands of documents that lawyer John Climaco said were vital to proving the innocence of the leader of the nation’s largest union. Climaco and lawyers for co-defendants Anthony Hughes and Harold Friedman, both officials of Teamsters Local 507 in Cleveland, told the judge that much of the information still has not been received.
