The Thai government is taking steps to stem a flood of X-rated films on videotape and cable television in Thailand, parliamentary officials announced Wednesday. Under the law--which could go into effect as early as Friday--operators who rent or show such films will be liable to a maximum fine of $770 or a one-year jail term or both.
