Grumman Corp. has won the contract to develop four flight simulator systems, the company said. The simulators will be used to train pilots and air crews to fly advanced versions of Grumman-built F-14 and A-6 combat planes, which are expected to be in the fleet in the 1990s. The Navy contract includes an option for 13 additional flight simulators. If the option is exercised, the total contract would be worth more than $445 million. The award is significant because it places Grumman in a better position to win other coming flight simulation business, financial analysts said.
