A senior official of the Palestine Liberation Organization warned that Arab extremists will launch a new campaign of terror if a proposed international conference on Middle East peace is not held. Salah Khalaf, deputy of PLO leader Yasser Arafat, said during a visit to China that an international conference is the “right channel” for a solution of the Arab-Israeli conflict. The conference idea is controversial, especially in Israel where the issue threatens to break up the coalition government.
