U.S. Employee Stabbed in Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti —
A Haitian man stabbed an American woman consular employee today outside the U.S. Consulate and was later shot and captured by police, a U.S. Information Service spokesman said.
Both the unnamed American and the unidentified assailant, who had jumped the fence surrounding the consulate and stabbed the victim in a parking lot, were reported in stable condition in different hospitals, the spokesman said. He said he knew of no motive for the attack.
