A federal judge ruled that Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young must appear before a grand jury investigating possible obstruction of justice in a police probe of allegations that former Georgia state Sen. Julian Bond abused drugs. The investigation involves charges by Bond’s estranged wife, Alice, that her husband, Young and other prominent black Atlantans used cocaine, and the subsequent actions of city officials.
