Deputy Mayor Tom Houston, one of Mayor Tom Bradley’s key advisers during his failed run for governor last year, is quitting his post next month to join a local law firm, Bradley announced today.

Houston will be replaced by former state Assemblyman Michael Gage, who is currently vice president of the Gersten Cos. business development firm and a close friend of Houston. Houston has served as Bradley’s deputy mayor and chief of staff since June, 1984, and helped draft the successful anti-toxics Proposition 65 state ballot initiative.
