Should Look Good, Too

Share

Thank you for your article on walking shoes (“These Shoes Are Made for Walking,” May 3). It is of special interest to me, because I am continually hunting for a good and good-looking pair of walking shoes.

I am a vigorous 72-year-old who walks between three and five miles every day and have done so for many years. The problem has been to find attractive, comfortable shoes that can be worn in cities.

My most recent walking shoes were white, and my husband thought they looked terrible, so I had them dyed navy blue before wearing them out of the house. (The cobbler thought I was a little dotty to dye brand-new, expensive shoes.)

I would like to suggest to the manufacturers that there are many women like me. We would welcome and buy good-looking, comfortable and attractive walking shoes in plain colors, preferably black, blue, gray or brown. Men are able to buy such shoes.
