Nixon Library and Tax Dollars

Share

Your update article (May 2) on the proposed Nixon library was very good with its detailed explanation of the trials and tribulations. It is a bitter but rightfully deserved harvest for a political career lacking integrity.

Four California universities have declined the proposed library, so its merits and background are much in question.

Although private funds (most likely income tax deductible) are to be used for the construction of the library, there would be a continuing need for many years of many millions of tax dollars to maintain and operate it.

Since California already has a former president’s (Hoover) library at Stanford University and another on the horizon for President Reagan, it would seem best for the proposed Nixon library to be located in New York (which doesn’t have any), where he made a fortune after fleeing the White House and the sunny shores of San Clemente.

I strongly protest the use of any tax monies, particularly mine, direct or indirect, for the proposed Nixon library in any location. As a disgraced president, he is and has been on the taxpayers’ backs for too long and for far too much.
