The head of the Arab League was quoted as predicting that a long-delayed Arab summit will be held before the end of the year. Secretary General Chedli Klibi said that three major problems preventing a summit, last held in Fez, Morocco, in 1982, had been successfully overcome. These were divisions in Palestine Liberation Organization ranks, implementation of Fez summit decisions and attitudes toward the Iran-Iraq War. The Tunisian daily La Presse reported Klibi’s remarks.
