Japan’s leading computer manufacturer, NEC Corp., plans to begin production of personal computers in the United States this month, the Asahi Shimbun reported in Tokyo. The newspaper said NEC will produce a desk-top model at its plant in Foxboro, Mass., this month, and a lap model at a plant in Georgia next month, using mostly parts shipped from Japan. The paper said NEC made the decision because of U.S. trade sanctions and the yen’s rise against the dollar.
