Leconte Joins Field for Grasscourt Championships June 6-14 in Scotland
Henri Leconte of France, the world’s sixth-ranked player, has said he will tune up for the Wimbledon tennis tournament in the Bank of Scotland Grasscourt Championships.
Organizers said that Leconte would join four other highly ranked men’s players in the tournament June 6-14.
Previously entered were top-ranked Ivan Lendl of Czechoslovakia, Andres Gomez of Ecuador, and John McEnroe and Aaron Krickstein of the United States.
The women’s field includes Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina and Zina Garrison of the United States.
The tournament comes the same week as the traditional men’s grasscourt tuneup at Queens Club in London, where defending Wimbledon champion Boris Becker of West Germany is entered.
