Flamemaster Posts a 59% Jump in Second-Quarter Net

Flamemaster Corp. reported 59% higher net income on a 75% increase in sales for its second quarter ended March 31, compared to the year earlier period. The Sun Valley maker of flame-retardant coatings for cables earned $117,200, or 8 cents a share, on sales of $1.4 million.

For the six months ended March 31, Flamemaster earned $191,522, or 12 cents a share, an increase of 56%. Sales for the period were up 73% to $2.7 million.

The increases reflect an ongoing U.S. government contract and the consolidation of Flamemaster with Altius, a maker of steel cabinets used to store flammable liquids. Flamemaster owns 59% of Altius.
