Changing the Speed Limit

Share

There is an old Russian saying that things can get so bad that there must be something good in it. One of the most effective arguments used in getting us, the citizenry, to accept the 55 m.p.h. speed limit was that thousands of our lives would be saved thereby. Most of us in California have obediently buckled up under the new law to save even more of our lives. One might even say that there is some logic involved here.

But now we apparently are going to go back to 65 m.p.h. which in south Orange County, because we are already going 65 m.p.h. will result in 75 m.p.h.

But not to fret. As more and more surgeons and hospital operating room teams become more proficient in organ transplanting the problem becomes the shortage of donors. Since I cannot follow the logic in going back to 65 m.p.h. should I settle for the good?
