The World : Japan Breaks Up Spy Ring

Four Japanese were arrested in the breakup of an espionage ring that sold U.S. military documents stolen from an American air base near Tokyo to the Soviet Union and China, Japanese police said. The four include an employee and a former employee of U.S. air bases. Two Soviet officials believed to be intelligence agents also were implicated in the sales of technical manuals for repair and maintenance of U.S. military aircraft. Police identified the four Japanese as Hiromi Date, 62, Hiroshi Osumi, 65, Masateru Tachibana, 59, and Sadao Gotoh, 60.
