Protesting the Protest
The article by Eric Bailey “Oceanside Building Exemptions Raise Ire” (May 14) noted that these exemptions have “outraged the backers of a tough slow-growth initiative.” These so-called backers are the people here in Oceanside who will seize any issue that will bring them a maximum of personal publicity.
Certainly the council’s honoring a commitment to business people who have worked with the city providing an orderly development of decent housing is an example of honesty in government--honoring a commitment. Let these “outraged” people get on with learning to conduct themselves with proper manners.
