Strip Search of Female Prison Visitors Defended
The warden at the state reformatory said a strip search of six female visitors, including a 4-year-old visiting her father, was justified because they were suspected of carrying drugs, a Corrections Department spokesman said Saturday.
The 4-year-old, a 9-year-old, a 15-year-old and three women visitors were strip-searched by a female guard earlier this month without being told they could refuse, Warden Dave Miller said.
Authorities said they received information that the group might be smuggling drugs and using the children to conceal them. No drugs were found.
